This is how we roll…
Summer has been full of studying for me, working for Mike, Kelby, and Tegan, and hanging out for Anika! We have spent some time playing outdoors and some playing indoors (Minecraft)! Overall it has been a full summer!
The first week of summer, Anika got to go to a Minecraft camp. It was a way to introduce engineering concepts in a fun way. I got to tag along as a teacher student and even got paid! The next week, Anika, Tegan and I worked VBS at our church. We got to play with the preschoolers. So much fun! Poor Tegan was not able to work the first couple of weeks because she was on crutches, but when she got a boot she quickly got to work at Camp Agape with Kelby. They love their job of watching kiddos. We also played at Bozeman Beach, though not as often as the past two years.
Tegan painted her dresser one day while hanging at home being bored!
Kelby’s Sweet 16
On June 27, Kelby turned 16! We rented a paddle board again and planned a party at Bozeman Beach, but the best part was a surprise visit from Gramma and Grampa Wright from Washington! I made Kelby at “Candy Bar”.
And silly photo props!
We went out to breakfast at the Western CafĂ©…yummy fun!
Then tried to find the owls up on campus.
Aunty Melissa got Kelby a special gift for her 16th!
Then we packed up and went to the beach for the rest of the afternoon.
Anika went back to Washington with Gramma and Grampa the next day. She had a blast hanging out with them! I went kayaking with a friend one afternoon while I was all by myself.
Then, the next weekend we drove out to Washington for the Fourth of July and took the other two girls to leave them there for a week also.
While we were there Drea (my sister) and her kids came to Montana and stayed at our house a couple nights.
Back in Washington…
The girls and I decided to go over to Sedro-Woolley for the 4th of July parade to see if we could find anyone we knew. We found the Janicki float.
And Tegan’s friends!
Then we went over to Aunty Heather’s house for 4th of July fun and great food!
And fun pets…
Then Tegan, Anika and I went with them to the fireworks show.
On Sunday we went to Washington Park, a favorite beach that we miss.
The next day, Mike and I traveled home all by ourselves and when hiking the next day. The adventure of that hike came with a flat tire situation! We got to our trailhead six miles off the main road and heard air coming out of one tire and found a nail in another! We put the spare on the deflating one, then left that trailhead just to be safe. Luckily we found another hike that wasn’t so far of the path. It was a hard one though…uphill!
My sister came up to Bozeman again, so I got to see them too!
We spent the afternoon on the Madison the next day. So relaxing…
We went downtown for Music on Mainstreet! Mike and Gabe were both supposed to make a face for this picture, but Gabe tricked him!
Yummy food truck food!
Then next weekend, Mike and I took the trailer up to St. Regis to set up camp so that Gramma and Grampa could bring the girls back, but not so far. We really loved the campsite. It was so quiet and beautiful.
The kids got dropped off…
The dog loves George!
We found huckleberries.
The next week was the fair. The girls didn’t ride rides this year…partly because Tegan was still in a boot. Mike and Kelby both entered their art and got ribbons! Kelby even sold a piece.
Anika and I went kayaking with friends one evening.
Mike continues to love fishing here in Montana!
The last weekend of July we went to a campsite near Butte. It is our new favorite. There’s a lake for kayaking, swimming, and fishing and cool rocks and forest.
Mike decided to sleep in a tent by himself to see if he slept better than in the trailer. He did.
Mike’s old camera that he dropped in a creek last year seems to be working again. Kelby is trying to learn how to use it now.
The girls had a blast collecting baby frogs!
While we were hanging at the lake, Mike drove down to Butte for an outdoor racquetball tournament. He had a blast!
I really enjoyed being lazy! Really lazy!
Kelby and I strung our hammocks like bunk beds!
There was even a jumping rock!
The first night our campsite neighbors blasted their music all night, but the second night was peace and quiet because they had gotten a $175 ticket for the noise!
Happy place….kayaking in the morning with a cup of coffee!
Okay, that pretty much catches me up for now. I would rather post here than on Facebook these days. I hope everyone else is having a great summer too!
Hugs!
