The Crazy Life!

I left you off last time with our house on the market. It only took a few weeks and we got an offer that we countered at full price and got. Then we had a few things that we needed the owners of our new house to fix before we would buy it. We closed on the 22nd of February and we moved mostly on Mike's birthday, the 24th. Poor guy. We knew when we first saw it that there were a lot of cosmetic things we'd need to fix if we bought it. There were plenty more annoying things we found once we moved in. When doing projects, the previous owner didn't finish the details, so we found lots of missing trim and weird things like that. The water heater doesn't seem to have more than 10 minutes of hot water either. But the worst was the morning we had water pouring through our kitchen light fixture! Luckily George, Mike's dad, came over and helped reassure us as we tried to recreate the flooding. He unplugged a toilet and we couldn't make it flood after that. He fixed the seal on the leaking toilet, so I think we are safe now. Issues with plumbing are scary! I've been in contact with my dad on all these plumbing issues too. He's going to have to walk me through putting in a garbage disposal in the next week.

The yard of the new house is so much bigger. We are even going to have a real garden. The girls can't wait. They love playing out in the yard. Mike was working out there all day today because the weather was so great. I'm almost looking forward to working out in the yard this summer. I even bought some perennials at Costco today. I hope I can figure this gardening stuff out.

I love all the space we have in the new house, but it needs to be painted and decorated. That will also present me with a challenge. One room at time, I'll get this place into shape. I have to be patient though. Sometimes my ideas are too big or too ambitious.

All the girls got sick just before we moved. They all had a fever and wouldn't eat. Anika was so miserable and had a totally different personality when sick. She was so clingy and unconsolable. She was either crying or sleeping. Gramma Debbie took care of her while we were moving. I'm so thankful. She even lost some weight. Moving probably didn't help either. She was just getting better when she got sick again on Thursday night. This time it is the throw-up sickies which are my least favorite to deal with. I hope she gets over it soon so I can have my sweet baby back again.

Before the move I was busy with the auction. I made a quilt, two scrapbooks, and a journal to donate to it. I had so much fun creating that I finally had to pack my supplies so I would stop. I also went out seeking donations from businesses. There were so many wonderful ladies that helped with this event. It was the Friday after we moved so I knew I couldn't handle it, but everybody stepped up and made it great. It was last Friday night on the 3rd. There were so many people there and we raised about $3000! I am so relieved to be done with it.

In the midst of packing and prepping for the auction, we actually got in a couple fun family outings on the weekends. We went sledding one more time. Another weekend we went on a little hike looking for eagles. I was very proud of us for doing fun stuff instead of being too stressed.

We went down for Kelby's scans on Monday. It was another long day, but the scans looked good. Dr. Park thought she saw what might be scar tissue under Kelby's arm, but the CT report said it looked stable. The bone scan also looked great. We are going to go down to Childrens next month to have Kelby's heart and ears checked. It is just something they do for kids long term after the drugs she got as a baby. We also need to get her port working again. They couldn't get blood drawn out of it on Monday. The heparin could go in, but they couldn't get blood out. I guess they can get them working again so we'll do that at our next visit.

We are mostly moved in, but life hasn't settled in to a complete norm yet with the sick kids and what not. I imagine that next week will feel more like real life. I have to take Kelby to school and pick her up everyday now that we've moved out of that school's busing area. I'll have to do that for the rest of the school year. It is a challenge, but it gets me moving quicker in the morning at least. The girls miss Kelby's little friend from the old neighborhood. We are still trying to get them together once a week at least.

I don't have any plans on the horizon except decorating, gardening, and crafting...and hopefully having ladies over for tea. I'm looking forward to some peaceful days.
