Going Strong!

Kelby is in her third week of school already! Today was "picture day". I remember back when I had my own picture day...this is so strange.

I think we had a little miracle in the last week. Kelby had been so exhausted and complaining about her legs...and then overnight like a lightswitch, she felt better. She hasn't complained about her legs for over a week now. We had an appointment with her Oncologist on Monday and her counts have doubled! That means they are pretty much normal now...and normal she seems. I discovered that she has grown 1 1/2 inches in two months. Maybe it really was a growth spurt.

Kelby loves school...everything except the school bus ride in the morning. The bus driver "yells at the kids", so that bothers her. I assured her that as long as she was obeying the rules, the driver wasn't yelling at her. For class she has learned a couple poems and is very proud of herself. She likes her teacher...but the school counselor called me today and wants to put her in a kindergarten/1st grade split class. They have too many kindergarteners this year. I'm not sure it will be a good idea to switch her...and she doesn't want to switch so far. I'm going to take her in to see the other teacher and classroom and see what she thinks then. Did you notice that her school principal posted a note in the guestbook!

Tegan is adjusting to her alone time too. She always wants to go somewhere, but she's doing fine. She also asks me almost everyday, "Have I grown up yet?" She wants to go to school too. Anika is growing and changing so quickly...but still no teeth. Those two girls are pretty easy going. Our days are a bit chopped up because we have to be at home at 11:30 to get Kelby off the afternoon bus. We walk down to the bus stop to get her or wait in the car on a rainy day.

I rented a Rug Doctor and got my carpets cleaned this weekend! It was hard work, but it looks so much better now. I don't even mind Anika crawling around on them now. Mike and the girls and I went to Haggens for lunch on Saturday. It was a nice lunch until Tegan burned her fingers on the fireplace they have there. It is a nice, cozy, gas fireplace for ambiance, but obviously too hot for little ones to touch. She got huge blisters on the backs of four fingers. Now she is fine, but she likes to show off her booboos to everyone she sees.

Tegan is begging to use my computer to play on the Disney website, so I guess I'll sign off for now. Just know that we are doing well...I'm not so worried now that Kelby is feeling so much better. I'm sure that all your prayers have helped! God bless!

Can you believe it? Kindergarten!

As I type, I am downloading the pictures of Kelby's first day at school. Well, really I've taken pictures everyday so far. I'm lucky she doesn't get mad at me. Her first day of school was Tuesday, but that didn't count because it was orientation and all the parents were there. We met the teacher and looked around the classroom. She met a little boy that has been praying for her for years. He was so excited to have her in his class. He even told the teacher he'd been praying for Kelby and that she was going to be healed. His name is Austin and I'm sure he'll take good care of her.

She was ready to ride the bus the next day. I couldn't believe it..."Are you sure you don't want me to take you to school?" "I'm sure I want to ride the bus." So, I let her get on the bus yesterday morning, but I got in the car and went to the school and waited until her bus got there and watched as she walked into the school. She saw me, but didn't say anything. A girl Kelby knows in the neighborhood is in her class and rides the bus with her, so she's not lonely.

Tegan, on the other hand, is very lonely without her big sister. On the first real day of school she cried and cried and wanted her Kelby to come back. She made me take her to Haggens today so she'd have something to do.

I have to pick Kelby up from school this week, but next week she'll get to ride a school bus home too. I can't believe how grown up she seems and how little she needs me. She is very tired when I pick her up, but she perks up a bit after eating lunch.

I want to be more involved in the school, but I'm not sure how to do it with my other two little ones. I offered to help with evening stuff...and I plan to join the booster club. I'll have to remember how to meet new people. Well...were kicking off a new season to the years and a new season to our lives. Change is refreshing.

We had a great time on our trip to Arizona. The girls didn't get too spoiled or too tired until the very end of the week. They swam twice a day, every day we were there. Kelby knew how to swim in only the life jacket, but Tegan even learned while we were there. Both girls swam circles around me...and made my Dad their own personal diving board. Anika loved the water too in her little floaty. The 110 degree temperature is bearable when you are in a pool. Otherwise we were in air conditioning, so the temp wasn't too bad. Still, I will choose next time to visit before May or after September.

My parents took us to fun places to shop and eat. It was an adventure. I even met my sister's handsome boyfriend. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves about our trip. I almost forgot to mention that I got to go to a Phil Collins concert with my parents as my birthday present! It was awesome. I cried during one song that he wrote for his kids called, "Come With Me." It was a beautiful lullaby song. The girls loved the airplane ride too!

Now we are getting settled back into life again. I'm excited to get back my routine.
