Oops…three major holidays, plus a birthday have come and gone since I last updated this blog! Turkey has been eaten, the tree has gone up and then down again, presents were wrapped and unwrapped, a monkey dance party was partied, fondue was eaten, and yet another turkey baked…all since my last post.
To save a lot of words, I’ll try to say it mostly in pictures.
I didn’t get any photos of our nice Thanksgiving Day. We had turkey over at Debbie and George’s. Then, that night I went out and shopped starting at 10:00 pm and ending at 6:00 am! I didn’t buy all that much, but I had a great time with my friend!
After catching back up on my sleep, sometime during that weekend we found time to put up our tree!
Then, with the beginning of December came the start of the advent calendar activities. Here is our gingerbread house. I almost made one from scratch, but changed my mind. The Costco kit is just too cheap and easy!

Then out of necessity, a photo shoot was in order because I didn’t get school pictures of the girls. Didn’t Mike do a good job?
Kelby had her band concert. She always loves to play her music for us! All three girls sang/played in the Christmas pageant at our church on the Sunday before Christmas too. I posted the video on Facebook, but it doesn’t seem to want to be imported here. They did a great job!
We had a couple fun Girl Scout activities during December. The first one was helping to serve punch and cookies at the Skagit Valley Herald Christmas Fund party for those kids that wouldn’t get much for Christmas.
This year they put us to work! We got to help pick out gifts to give to children after they sat on Santa’s lap. We watched for whether it was a boy or a girl and tried to match gifts to their age! It was hard and kept us busy for the full 3 hours!
Then each girl got to sit on Santa’s lap too!
A couple days later our troop visited the retirement home to hand out ornaments and sing. This time was a little more intimate. We had a smaller group, but we got to talk with them a little more. It was great fun. Then we all went ice skating as a troop!
The next morning we had a tea party with the aunts, cousins, and Grandma! We had a great time with them all!
Then, Christmas Eve was upon us and it was time to go sledding! We went to go look at lights the night before, then went to pick up a friend that spent the night and came sledding with us.
When we got home, we took it easy and then Gramma and Grampa Wright came over to deliver their gifts…of Christmas pajamas!
We got to open presents with Gramma and Grampa Morrow via Skype too! Then, we went to the Christmas Eve church service, came home and had an appetizer dinner while we watched “The Nativity.”
Santa filled the stockings over night and left a telescope for the whole family.
The girls had a happy time of opening presents and seemed to like everything. Then it was time for our traditional Christmas morning breakfast.
Time flew by and it was time to go over to Gramma and Grampa Wrights for more presents and lunch.
We even played games.
My favorite day of the season was the day after Christmas when we sat around and did nothing much at all. I laid around in my blanket poncho reading my new Kindle Fire!
Before I knew it, it was Anika’s birthday! We went down to an orthodontist appointment at Children’s that morning, then had a family party for her that evening.
The little monkey wanted a monkey themed party! Perfect!
On Thursday we went swimming for fun! Can you say “spoiled!”
On Friday at four I was inundated with 6 additional 2nd graders! Let the party begin. I had cleaned the garage and inspiration struck when I walked out into that big open space. I threw up some streamers and turned on some music and said, “Anyone want a dance party!?” They LOVED it! Plus, that made for less noise in the house! A great party if I do say so myself.
On New Year’s Eve I threw together the stuff for some fondue fun. The girls had fun and I bet this becomes a new tradition for our house. Yummy!
The next day it was my turn to try making a turkey for a New Year’s Day dinner. It was just us eating it, but it turned out yummy and there was lots of leftovers!
Wow, I’m exhausted looking back. Honestly, I really managed pretty well the whole season. I just went with the flow and enjoyed myself with the family. It was a great holiday break, but now the kids are back in school. Time to find a new norm once again!
