Well, the party is done! For those of you that don't know, I have been planning a surprise 30th birthday party for Mike for 2 months now and it was finally last night. It was so much fun and he didn't have any idea I was planning it. It was a Old West Poker Tournament theme - Texas Hold'em. I went all out. We had 18 people here and 3 poker tables. I served them a "Texas" BBQ dinner with BBQ beef sandwiches, homemade Mac & Cheese, corn, baked beans & bisquits. The invitations looked like a weathered, old newspaper article announcing a "Poker Tournament to lure in Maverick Mike." People seemed to have a great time. Mike appreciated all my hard work. I even dressed up!
Man, that has kept me busy, along with my story, for the last month. Plus, I've been working to get a committee organized to raise money for the new playground at Kelby's school. We haven't gotten up and running yet. I have a big idea to throw a huge poker tournament for a fundraiser since Mike's party went to well. If any body has any good fundraising ideas, let me know!
The girls have been sick for, it seems, a couple weeks now. Anika was really cranky with a fever for a week. Tegan got some weird fever/earache/tired sickness for a week. Just when those two were getting better, Kelby started coughing and got a tired fever. Then, Tegan started up on coughing too, so she's got Kelby's sickness. Anika is back to normal at least. I staved it off just long enough to get through Mike's party, but I'm starting to feel sick today. I'm so happy that Mike didn't get sick for his party! Hopefully he'll survive all these germs.
Anika is practically running these days. She learned how to climb the stairs, but can't get back down. Not much else is going on with the girls since they were sick all this time.
They enjoyed having Mom here a while back. Valentine's day was nice. Mike sent us on a little scavenger hunt and I got diamond earrings at the end!
I was worried about Kelby this last week because she had sixteen bruises on her shins. I thought that maybe something was wrong and her platelets were low, but I took her down to Children's on Thursday and her counts are great!
Thanks for continuing to check up on our little family.
