This week in the Wright Household

We had a fun week this week. On Wednesday, Tegan, Anika, & I got invited to friends house. She has two little boys and Tegan loved playing with them. Dane, a five-year-old soccer player gave Tegan his "card", a picture of him on a trading card. She brought it home and has been carrying it around for days. She said the other day, "Can he be my boyfriend?" Wow! Already? Yikes! I told her he was her friend boy instead.

On Friday I volunteered in Kelby's classroom for an hour. Kelby was happy to have me there. I took Anika and Tegan, but they seemed to do fine. Tegan occupied herself with coloring in a corner. For a while I had Anika in a backpack, but she got too loud and the teacher let me put her down. She quietly played with blocks. It was fun to be in the classroom and help the kids. I saw better how I can help Kelby at home by doing it.

We all went to Mike's soccer game last night. The girls love to run around and play with their cousins, Naomi and Emma.

We don't have much planned for the weekend. It looks like I'm going to be the organizer for our Church's Christmas event this year. I hope it goes smoothly. It was a fun event last year. I'm excited to be involved!

Not Much Going On

Things have been pretty slow around here. It's enough to make me crazy. You all probably worry about me when I'm too busy, but I'm much more likely to loose it when things are slow.

A couple weekends ago we went rollerskating...and I'm sure we'll be doing more of that now that the weather has cooled down. Afterwards we went to the "Festival of Farms". The Skagit Valley always seems to have the fun, wonderful festivals for families. We had so much fun. All the local farms had free tours, etc. We only made it to two, but the kids really enjoyed it. The dairy farm had face painting, hay ride, and free milk. We also went to a cattle farm and their tour took us over to an orchard too. It was a gorgeous warm Autumn day.

A while back we made it to the Farmer's Market on a Saturday. The girls and I enjoyed that. Otherwise we have been painting the house on the weekends...or Mike has been painting. It looks so great. It is a brighter blue than before which gives a little cheer to the neighborhood. It a brighter intensity than the other houses, but we figure everyone is going to be painting in the next few years, so everyone will change their colors. The trim is a dark blue. There's only a bit of trim left to do, but it might have to wait until the weather warms up in the spring.

My writing group ended and I miss it, but my book club is up and running again for another session. I love the ladies from my group. I'm still helping out at the school as best I can. I am going to start going into the classroom once a week (if it works out). The teacher said I could bring Anika on my back and let Tegan join the class, so we'll see how it goes this Friday. Its time to kick the playground stuff into gear again. We need to plan a big event plus do the walk-a-thon again. I think we'll be getting at least something up by the end of the year. Then add on in stages.

I am totally addicted to digital scrapbooking now. I finished my first digital scrapbook a couple weeks ago and posted it for you all to see. Digital scrapbooking means it is all done on the computer. Once I learned how to use my program "Paint Shop Pro" it became really easy. It doesn't have the mess of paper scrapbooking AND I can put the files on the website for everyone to see! I had my disney pages printed in a hardbound book that turned out great! I found a web forum with lots of other people that like to digital scrapbook, so I'll have to pace myself on there and try not to be obsessed, otherwise I'll be on the computer ALL the time.

Kelby had her port flushed by our doctor up here in September. That saved us a trip down to Children's Hospital, so I bought her off with the money I saved in gas! The end of October we have an appointment with Dr. Park, so we have to go down and she can get her labs drawn and port flushed then.

All in all, things are going smoothly. Kelby loves first grade and even loves homework now. I can't believe how much she's changed. Our church does a Christmas program every year and this year she wanted to be in the choir. She'll have practice every Sunday until December 11! It is so cute to see her passionate about something like that. She makes it through the week without naps now, though we have her catch up with a Saturday nap. Tegan is still bored everyday, but she's learning how to play with Anika as a big sister. Anika is a little feisty. Actually, she is a really easy baby except she gets into my purse and a few drawers. She just won't learn to stay out of them for some reason. She still isn't talking except two words: no and uh oh. We are starting to get a little worried about that and have been working extra hard to get her to talk, but no success yet. She's VERY smart though. I know without a doubt that she understand EVERY word I say. I'm not sure she isn't just being stubborn about talking.
