Happy July

This weekend felt incredibly busy. Let's start with the craziest thing first.

On Monday night, Kelby came and got me in the middle of the night because she said Tegan was hurt. I got into their room and Tegan was in her bed crying about a hurt shoulder. Being a bit hazy in my sleep I just told her it would be okay and to go back to sleep. According to Michael, she got up at 6:00 and threw up (I don't know if these events are connected). They both slept in the next morning since we had left them get up to watch fireworks, but when Tegan got up, she was crying because her shoulder hurt. I was concerned, but gave her some Tylenol and she seemed to perk up, so we went to the Creek Park. I knew something was wrong when she just sat up on the blanket while Kelby played. She would cry off and on about the pain. After nap I took her into the doctor. I was thinking it was some weird inflammation because she didn't remember hitting it on anything and she had a litte bit of a temperature, plus it was weird that she threw up. But on the way to the doctor it occurred to me to ask Kelby where Tegan was when she woke her up. Kelby thought she remembered her being on the floor. So that meant that Tegan must have fallen off the top bunk or the ladder. Maybe she is a sleep walker? Knowing it was probably from a fall made me feel better because I don't like unexplained illnesses. Understandably, they make me nervous. The doctor looked at her and thought it was a cracked collar bone. He didn't get conclusive answers from the xray, but accessed that by the way it looks and how she acts. They can't do anything about it, but let it heal and give her Tylenol. I'm glad that is all it is. Isn't it sad that that makes me glad? This may put a damper on the kinds of activites we can do for awhile.

Last Wednesday I took the girls to a free movie at the theater. It is a nice event they put on in the summer. Every Wednesday there is a different free movie. It didn't work out too well because Anika was too rowdy. We may try again with their aunt so the cousins can go to the movie while I shop the mall with Anika. Then the next week I'll go to the movie and Aunt Heather would get to shop.

The weekend was packed full of fun things to do. On Saturday I rested in the morning because I had gotten another cold on Thursday and Friday. That is my third one in the last month. I'm better now. On Saturday evening we went out and got Michael a fancy, new camera. It will be his new hobby to take pictures of flowers and things when we go hiking or camping. I think it is a better hobby than fishing because we can all enjoy it!

Sedro Woolley always does it up for the Fourth. Saturday night was the street dance. We had a wonderful time. Tegan kept saying, "Thanks for bringing us here!" She's been saying that all the time lately. She's such a thankful girl. Anika was hard to keep track of because she kept running off.

After church on Sunday, we went up to the mountains for a little hike. Then we found a sandy spot on the river for the girls to play on. It was Anika's first "beach" experience. Again Tegan kept saying, "Thanks for bringing us here."

On the Fourth of July, we went over to the Sedro Woolley parade. I didn't hear a "Thanks for bringing us here" that time because it was boring, hot, and they didn't throw much candy. We left the parade early to go to Gramma and Grampa Wright's house for hot dogs and swimming. They have a fun kiddie pool and a hot tub that the girls LOVE. Kelby and Tegan played in the water for hours. The adults played Bocce, a fun game of throwing strange, heavy balls. They missed their nap, so when we got home they went to bed early until we woke them up at 9:30 to watch fireworks in the dark. We let Anika sleep. The fireworks made their eyes sparkle and kept them entertained. I told the girls that we were celebrating America's birthday. All day Tegan kept asking when we were going to "Samatha's birthday." She thought their would be cake and ice cream and was very confused. However, in the end she was satisfied with just the fireworks.

Then that night we had the broken collar bone incident. We dealt with that all of yesterday. I'm glad we got all the activity in before Tegan got hurt. We'll lay low the rest of the week until Kelby's simulation appointment on Friday with the radiologist. We don't know the details of her radiation appointments yet. I'm hoping for a 10-ish time slot so we miss the rush hour traffic.

I hope everyone else's Fourth was fun.
