I did it...I relaxed!

After another long day down at the hospital, I walked into the house and all the little things again started to bother me. The girl's laundry was waiting to be folded, dishes waiting to be washed, lots of pieces of grass all over my floor waiting to be vacuumed, messy rooms longing to be picked up, bathrooms beginning to grow things on their own. But...and I know you'll all be very proud of me...I pulled out a "outside" blanket, spread it out on the grass and layed down. I let the girls jump all over me as I "rested". Quality time! I suppose I'll get to that other stuff some other day, but not today.

I guess the long drive has been getting to me. I realized it today...there was a car in my way...and from the back seat I heard, "What is UP with that lady!?" Kelby is watching me. Those little eyes and ears watch us closely...and imitate things we don't want them to imitate. I'll have to make sure to keep my "road rage" in check!

Today was Kelby's last radiation treatment. They sent her off with a "Favorite Patient" certificate and a stuffed Husky (mascot for the University of Washington). She was thrilled. I would be too if I was her...it was a soft, cuddley, little dog. She named him Ice Cream..."because he likes to eat ice cream." The timing today was just right, so we didn't have any waiting...straight from the radiation treatment, we made it to the bone scan just in time. Brave little trooper that she is, Kelby made it through the bone scan awake. She only cried when the machine was sandwiched over her head. It doesn't touch her, but it scared her. Her MIBG scan is on Friday. Since it takes much longer she'll be under anesthesia for that one.

I tried to get some information about the scan from our nurse practitioner, but I'm finding that a bit difficult. She (how do I say this nicely?) has a stern, harsh (that's not very nice) way of dealing with me...and she tends to talk down to me (I just don't know how to make it sound nice). It makes it really hard for me because she is supposed to be my main contact. She did say that according to Dr. Park the bone scan looked good except one spot that lit up, which I later confirmed was the spot in her arm. Apparently...at least the way I understand it...the doctor doesn't want to say much until she can compare this scan to the results from Friday, then she'll talk to me and answer all my questions. I realized that my biggest problem right now is that I don't know what I don't know...but probably should know. I need to write some lists so I remember what questions need answers. It looks like Kelby's blood counts have gone down a bit since she started radiation. The oncologist thinks it's the radiation, but the radiologist doesn't. So, who knows? At any rate, she'll have to have her blood counts checked next week, but other than that, I have no idea what next week holds. I'm just hoping that it doesn't hold much driving!

It's straight to bed for me now. I haven't been sleeping too well lately. God bless you all and thank you for your continued prayers. I'm looking forward to a day without driving south tomorrow!
